TOWN PLANNING
(To the Editor.)
Sir,^-I would like to express through your columns the hope that the Director of Town Planning, for New Zealand will be called in to advise the authorities on the reconstruction of Napier and Hastingsl By so doing and by employing architects the people of the devastated areas would ensure for themselves fine new towns from every point of view; further they would greatly lessen the risks in the event o"f another disastrous visitation such .is they have just had. Here is theii- chance which I sincerely hope they will not allow to pass: In conclusion I would like to say that if the Wellington Town Planning Act had been passed and put in operation years ago Napier and Hastings would not have suffered as-they have done. But alas, the politicians do not realise the immense good town plauning has done for other countries, and ccmld do for New Zealand if given a. chance.—l am, etc., . A WELL WISHING WAYFARER.
