The annual meeting oi! the New Zealand Institute of Architects was held in Wellington to-day. There were present Messrs. F. Jj. Moodie, R. A, Lip-, pincott, L. S. 'Piper, J. Park (Auckland), H. Maudeno, IL M'Dowell Smith (Dunedin),. R. S. D. Harman, B. J. Agcr, W. F. Robinson, IX S. Hutton (Christchurch), F. N. .Hornib'fook (Tauranga), W. M. Page,- F. E. Greenish, A. S. The Education Committee n'poHi'd that after the examination of students certain complaints were lodged. Tfc , was claimed that some-ot' the questions were beyond the syllabus. Careful investigation proved that it was hardly the case, but where .tho. internal examiners had been outside the School of Architecture, they had not kept closely within the matter represented by tho text-books r.ecO,niijioncled in the bibliography. Students "were not doing as well as they should in mathematical subjects. It was also apparent that hitherto the time allotted for tho structural mechanics examination had been inadequate to permit of a sufficient number of questions being properly answored. Tho altered division of tho subject in the new syllabus would help to remedy the difficulty. The accounts for the past year showed ;in excess of expenditure over income of £48. 11s 7d.
