A DARING BURGLARY

FUR COATS STOLEN

TAKEN PROM SHOW WINDOW

Fur coats and fur necklets valued at over £200 were stolen from a show window of the Nevada Pur Co., at the corner of Manners street and Lombard street, between 12.45 and 1.30 o'clock this morning. The burglary was a particularly daring one. A small pane- ef glass about six inches wide and twelve inches long was broken in one of the show windows where several furs were displayed. ■ Entrance could not be gained to tho shop as a result of breaking the pane of glass, but tho burglars apparently dragged what articles they could reach from the outside through- the small opening left by tho broken glass. I "I. don't,know how.1 they could, have done-it, as aomo.of tho.fur" coats were ■Very •. bulky," said . Miss Spiers, .daugh-. ter of tho proprietor of .the shop, to a f'Post" representative to-day. She said1 that whon sho left tho shop at 0 o'clock last evening the doors and windows were securely locked and everything was safe. About 1.30 this monir ing she was informed at her homo at Breaker Bay that the shop had been broken into. Both Miss Spiers and her father, who has been in ill-health for a long time, camo to town to ascertain what had happened. A constable on his beat passed the shop at 12.45 a.m., and at that time .nothing was amiss. When ho returned at about 1.30 a.m., however, he found the pane of glass broken.
