Taranaki were galfoped at Takanini this morning, when the; track, was very:'fast.- ' Theoutside of the course'proper was in use, with, a good run up. Eaglet (Stewart) and In the Shade (Jones) were given a rousing gallop oycr five, fiirlongs.' The- first :two ~-furlongs, along the back,- occupied 24 3-ssec, and they came home on. terms in. the smart time of lmin 1 4-ssec. Both horses moved very; ;p]easingly, and ' they will - strip A fit ffir their New Plymouth engagements. Ammon Ea . (Jones) .was...allowed to stride along over five furlongs in .lrnia 4 2-sgec. He was going well, within'himself all the way arid ■ could have done better. Ammon Ea appears to have don« splendidly since winning the Stakes.
