NAPIER, This Day. Nothing has occurred since the original earthquake to justify any sensa- | tional statements, no matter who makes or publishes them. The organisation is working splendidly. There is no fever, and no flood, and there are no further fires; An.inspection of the country reveals i that the river banks have been* badly damaged, but these are being repaired. ; A bank is being erected round the base of the Hospital Park-racecourse, which is not as much above the sea level as i(. existed prior to the begin- j ning of the disaster. Although there has been much minor thieving, nothing serious has :becn re-1 ported. , The town and district are almost dovoid of women and children. Men are being given work in all directions, but there'is much to do.
