IN THE SYNAGOGUE

A special service was held at the Wellington Synagogue on Saturday morning, when there was a very large attendance, including tho leading members of the congregation and its officers, with their president, Mr. Phil. Myers. An address was given: by Mr. I. Van tStaveren, acting honorary minister, and an appeal was made to co-operate 'in every possible way with the authorities who wero working to relievo tho situation, and also to extend the greatest sympathy and consideration for tho sufferers in their hour of trial. The service concluded with a prayer, especially composed for tiio occasion, and ■ tho singing of the Penetential Yigdol, the ages-old memorial hymu of'tho Hebrew people. :
