BODIES RECOVERED
ALPINE DISASTER VICTIMS
. BEBNE, 4th February. The bodies of a. guide; Mrs. Fnrni-; val, and Mias Galloway, victims of the alpine disaster, have been recovered from under ten feet of snow. Miss Furnival '&; body has not been recovered, but it is^ expected that it will be found to-morrow. All are more or less mjutilated, though Miss Galloway's glasses were unbroken and her watch, still going. ■''..'-..■
On 30th January, six English tourists and three guides were crossing the AQetch Glacier at Eadelboden (Switzerland) . when an avalanche .overtook tihem. Three English women and one giuide were buried under tons of snow. Tihe remainder dug themselves out. The yiotims included Mrs. Frank Furnival, Wufe of a retired Indian Civil servant, tcir daughter Dorothy, Miss Galloway, and Christian Baerstschi, one of tho mwst famous'guides in the Bernese Oberland. The survivors were Mr. Fmrnival, Mr. Gilbert Stead, ft London, Miss Lees, Mrs. Furnival's sister, and Guides Gyger and Fritz Baertschi.
