THE MAYOR'S FUND
Tho Mayor's fund for the relief of unemployment during the holiday period now totals £1507 5s 2d. The response to the street appeal was rather disappointing, the total collected being only £139 7s lOd. Additional subscriptions are: — & s. a. Port Nicholson Silver Band and several well-known Wellington artists to givo a special concert in Oriental Bay on Sunday evening in aid of the fuud has been accepted with thanks by the Deputy-Mayor, Councillor Luckie. A special entertainment, of which the proceeds will be' handed to the Mayor's fund, will be given in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening by the "Wellington Symphony Orchestra, assisted by Mrs. Wilfred Andrews and Signor Lucien Cesaroni.
