THOROUGHBRED SALE
KOYAL FLIER BRINGS 75GNS.
Seven of Mr. W. H. Gaisford's race-' horses in training were offered for sale at | Woodville yesterday morning, but the bidding was not enthusiastic, and the four horses that were sold brought very poor prices. _ j The Hawkes Bay sportsman, Mr. R. Gregory, who races Jen and some other horses, was the purchaser- of Archeria (Archery—Roselate), 11 guineas. Royal Flier (Flying King—Amandine), 75 guineas, and a two-year-old brown filly by Limond from Sequinette, 40 guineas. Roundelay (Limond—Tivoli) also changed hands for 20 guineas. Statuary was passed in at 70 guineas, and Hawkshaw was retained at 250 guineas. There was no bid for the hurdler Atareria (Rossendale — Gheri Cheri), whom Mr. Gaisford afterwards gave as a gift to L. Knapp, who trains his hurdle horses. Mr. Gaisford has closed his Woodville racing stables, and has reduced his stud, but he has not altogether gone out of the sport. He did not offer the two-year-old Esteem for sale, and Statuary and Hawkshaw will still carry his colours.
