ISLAND BAY BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Island Bay Baptist Sunday School celebrated its anniversary last Sunday. Three services were held hi the New Quality Theatre, the Kov. C. ]i. Boggis, the newljr-inducted pastor, conducted the morning and evening services, while the afternoon service was conducted by the Rev. Ivan Thomas. Attendances for the day were good, tho hall being particularly well filled iv the evening. Under the leadership of Mr. H. E. Wilson, tho scholars gave an excellent rendering of the anniversary hymns. The pianist, Miss M'Hutehon, and a number o£ instrumentalists added to the success of the musical portion of the services. The festival was coutinued on Tuesday evening. The scholars were entertained at tea, and afterwards adjourned to the church,, where the annual meeting was held. The Key. 0. B. Boggis presided, and a miscellaneous programme was given by the scholars. The annual report, presented by Mr. E. A. Eyres, was of a satisfactory nature. Altogether there are 42 girls and 60 boys on the roll. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Marsden, who has been on the teaching staff for many years. Following is the list of prize-winners:—Girls, Junior Bible Class: Rona Marsdeu, Thora Clapham, Winsome Andrew, Ina Stewart, Mattie M'Hutehon, Dora Palmer, Nellie Palmer. Class one: Moura Brown, Gwen Russell, Dorothy Wallis, Irene Hindmarsh, Noeleine Bow, Doreen Bew. Class two: Helen Burt, Patty Edwards, Edna Bew. Class three: Kathleen Siddall. Boys, Junior Bible Class: James Burt, Dudley Eyres, Peter Tail, Keith Howau, Tom Jamieson, Ron ITanthorpe, Ronald Wright, Ray Glensor, Colin Alexander. Class one: Leslie Marsden, Colin Brown, Keith Andrew, Arthur Howau, Jolm Stewart. Class two: Brycn Smedley. Class three: Malcolm Duncan, Robs Andrew, Trevor Duncan, Jack Siddall, Jack Ewen. The members of the primary class each received a book.
