CLAIM FOE DAMAGES
"RADIO RECORD" CASE
The hearing of the action brought by Mrs. Nellie Digby Smith against the Radio Publishing Company, a claim for £200 damages for alleged wrongful dismissal, was concluded iv the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon. Evidence was given by Colin Wallace Stewart Smith, associate editor of the "Radio Record," who said that he had been - frequently short of copy for : Mrs. Smith's section of the paper late in, the week. The deficiency of. material spoiled the make-up of the paper. John Aloysius Galvin, advertising manager of the "Radio Record," said that in his opinion certain special articles written by Mrs. Smith were well done, and the copy was received when it was due. He could not remember advertisers having made' complaints. He agreed that the member of the staff who made contracts ,with electrical advertisers would be more likely to hear complaints i£ there were any. Stanley Smith, now in business on his own account,- said he was a member of the staff of the "Radio Record" while Mr. Galvin was away. Witness understood that tho "write-up" advertising notices had been well done. • Recalled, the plaintiff said that the cooking articles were invariably put in by Tuesday, and tiio main article on Wednesday or Thursday. Until the last two wdeks, the greater part of her work was accepted and published. Witness-as-serted ths't she kept articles in reserve. The C'oart reserved its decision.
