ATTEMPTED BURGLAEY

SHOP DOOR TAMPERED WITH

An unsuccessful attempt to break into tho branch shop of Hill Bros., grocers, in Onepu road, Lyall Bay, was made during last night or early this morning. When the manager, Mr. N. M. Thompson, arrived at the shop at 7.45 this morning, ho found that a strip of plate-glass in the front door had been broken, and an attempt made to get at tho lock. The intruders, however, could not reach the lock as a zinc plate behind the door protected it. This is tho second time in four months that an attempt has been made to break into the shop. After the last attempt it was decided to put the zinc plate behind tho door.
