BOARD'S ACTIVITIES

The Unemployment Board has now approved of subsidies under the No. 1 Scheme of £2 for £1 subsidies to local bodies, which exhausts the amount sot aside for this purpose, viz., £25,000. Tho allocations approved will iind work for approximately 2100 men between now and the end of January. In all cases tho board lias made it a condition of the subsidy that tho maximum number of men arc to be employed (in alternate periods where necessary) so as to give as many as possible unemployed men in these localities at. least a fortnight's work, from tho fund provided under this scheme.
