"TOTE" FIGURES WELL DOWN
Glorious -weather greeted the Woodville. District Jockey Club for the first day o£ its Summer Meeting, but the attendance, nevertheless, was considerably below the average of recent yeai's. The track ■was in excellent order, and times throughout were fast. . A feature ol' the day was tli-e snceess of.!the team taken North by the Kiccarton. trainer T. Lloyd, who was himself formei'ly a trainer at Woodville. Two ■members of the team, Gay Crest and Adelphi, -non, another in lioyal Baby was beaten into second place in the last tew strides, and the fourth member, Desert Song, was fourth in his race. . All these horses are owned by the Christchurch sportsman, Dr. M. G. Louisson, and the first three have recently returned from a trip to Sydney. * Betting was not brisk, and the totalis- : ator turnover of £11,32S represented a decline of £5425'0n last year's total, and £2019 on the sum put through in 1925.
