GAY BALLERINA
SHOWS HER CLASS
(From "Vedette."). SYDNEY, 4th. December. Gay Ballerina gave a. taste of her quality under 9.5 at Moorefield on Saturday over six furlongs. She did not have a good field to beat, but what appreciated the victory was the manner of it in face of difficulties. She did not receive a good run early, and had to run round the leaders at the turn. Dp the short straight she stretched out like a greyhound,, and won going away by nearly two lengths from the exA.B.C. galloper Sarinch. She was favourite early, but the bookmakers would have none of her and blew her out to good odds. What they thought during tho race and at the finish is not known. Their reason probably was the defeat of Guiding Light, a stable mate of the mare, who had galloped well with. Gay Ballerina two days earlier. Guiding Light was beaten in a minor race after being backed as if the race was all over.
