TAXI-DRIVERS' HOURS
UNREASONABLY LONG
(Special to "Tho Evening Post.") . CHBISTCHUKCH, This Day. The hours worked by taxi drivers were discussed by the City Council last night. Councillor Williamson said it was time that something was done regarding tho hours some of tho taxi drivers were called upon to work in order to try to make a decent living. Eecently there was an accident, and it was assumed that tho taxi-driver responsible was asleep. Not long ago there was another accident, and it was believed the driver was asleep in his taxi. Tho Mayor said that all would agree with Mr. Williamson, but the council had no standing in tho matter and the men were not under an award. It was decided to bring the matter under the notice of local members of Parliament with a view to legislative action being taken to prevent men from working unreasonably long hours.
