PLACING SCHOOLBOYS
MINISTER'S HOPES
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Minister of Education (the Hon. H. Atmore) was asked to-day whether any definite plan had been formulated to provide continuation education for children leaving tho primary schools or other schools until such time as they secured employment, it being suggested that there was no prospect of the employment market in Auckland fliis year being able to absorb nearly as many ex-pupils as in foi'mer years. Mr. Atmore said that he was fully alive to the problem of placing the boy leaving school, and by the appointment of vocational officers at the different centres some help was afforded, although he realised that the provision was of preliminary value only. One of the proposals o-f the new education policy, however, was the raising of the compulsory school age to fifteen, and when that was put into operation it would be one step in the direction of meeting the difficulty now being experienced.
