RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION

Progress made by the Wellington City Ratepayers' Association during its six months of existence was reported upon by the .chairman (Mr. H. H. MillerV at a general'meeting of the. association last evening. ' The membership, he stated, was over 300, and all the members were financial. A very large proportion of the-leading business firms had joined the association. Mr. Miller dealt with the association's successful campaign against "the pernicious Betterment Bill," and traced the steps leading up to - its disposal by the-House of Representatives. ■ On his motion, the following .vice-pre-sidents - were\elected:—Sir Harold Beauchamp, Sir John Luke.
