W.E.A. SUMMER SCHOOL
An interesting holiday that combines intellectual fellowship with pleasant out-door activities has been arranged.by; the Canterbury- W.E.A. for the; .Christ-mas-New Year holidays, when th<B annual summer school will be .held 36 Waimate, commencing on Boxing Day, and continuing until 3rd. January. A strong panel of lecturers has'been appointed, including Dr. J. Hight (Rector of Canterbury College), Messrs. W.-T, Thomas, M.A. (Timaru Boys' High School), G. Lawn, M.A. (Lecturer ill Economics, Canterbury College), L. jP, de Berry, M.A. . (headniasteiy/West Christdhureh School), A. Maclintock, M.A. (Timaru Technical School), P. Campbell, M.A., and W. J. Scott, M.A. (Temuka High School), F. E.. O'Flynn. and Miss Carol West Watson,' 8.A., of Chrjstchurch. The main subject, of study will be "Imperial and International Problems," and a prominent place will also be given to literature and tho drama. Play-readings, community singing, and folk dancing- will be special features of the'camp activities, and out-door excursions and sports of all kinds will be planned. Waimate is beautifully situated for a holiday of this nature, and the Borough Council and local sports bodies are co-operating with the W.E.A. to make- the camp a success. The. students will, be accommodated in thei-local schools, and meals will be provided in a large dining marquee erected in the grounds. Campers must bring their own blankets^ sheets, rugs, and other equipment.
