AN EYE-OPENER
WORK AT MASSEY COLLEGE
LORD BARNBY IMPRESSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMEBSTON N., This Day. Tho extent and' thoroughness of the wool research work being carried out at. Massey College surprised Lord Barnby, the noted wool expert, when he visited the college. He prolonged his stay because of his deep interest, and discassed for over three hours with Professor Peren and eight members of the wool research staff, details of experiments in hand to improve the New Zealand wools.
Lord Barnby told an interviewer that the work carried out was an eyeopener. No praise was too high for it. He had made very minute investigations into the scientific research activities, and was convinced that the staff was proceeding on right lines. The ultimate result of their investigations should .be of considerable benefit, not only to the wool growers, but also to the textile manufacturers.
The' location, surroundings, and general appearance of the college buildings also favourably impressed the visitor, wiho said it denoted an earnest desire on "the part of the Government to foster the highest aims in agriculture. Professor Peren said that the staff had profited considerably by the views expressed by Lord Barnby, who had approached the subject from the manufacturers'" viewpoint.
