THE DYESTUFFS ACT
MEMBERS' SALARIES
(Received sth December, 3 p.m.) LONDON, 4th December. In the House of Commons, Sir Philip Cunliffo-Listcr 's amendment to continue the Dyestuffs Act till 1936 was defeated by 255 votes to 225. Six Liberals, including Sir John i Simon, voted against the .Government. Several of tho Left Wing Labour members did not vote. Mr. W. L. Evorard (Unionist) inquired whether, in the interests of economy and in order to set an example to the country, the Government should appoint a Select Committee to inquire into a 125 per cent, reduction in members' salaries. Mr. MaeDonald replied that the salaries had been fixed in 1911, and could not now be regarded as more than adequate.
