SWEET-SMELLING WORLD

Think of a world fresh and sweet as new-mown ' hay, and you have the vision promised us by Dr. Donald A, Laird, professor of psychology at Colgate University, Hamilton, New York. He announces from there a discovery which banishes all tlie disagreeable odours that vex the world (says the New York correspondent of the "Daily Mail"). Taking as their motto■ that familiar Biblical riddle, "Out of ;the strong came forth sweetness," chemists1 are now able to manufacture one pleasant smell by combining two disagreeable ones.
