RUMOURS OF REDUCTIONS

XO COMMENT BY MINISTER

When a report suggesting that the personnel of the Permanent Defence Forces was to be reduced by 50 per cent, was referred to him to-day, the Minister of Defence (tho Hon. J. G. Cobbe) said he had no comment to make in the meantime. It is understood that during the past few weeks an investigation of the Defence Forces has been carried out, but that up to the present no definite deci-. sions have been reached.
