PETONE CLUB

The Petone Rifle. Club fired a competition counting for the Locgfield aggregate and second short range handicap series at Trentham'on Saturday, at 300 and 500 yards. The weather was fine, and at these short distances high scoring was expected. A rear "fish-tail" wind, of fair strength caused trouble, and only moderate scores were registered. ■ ■ ' ~ At 300 yards N. E. Solomon topped the scoring with 45, followed by W. M'lver, J;.Hunter, and E. Ballinger, with,44 each. At 500 yards, the wind was most deceptive. T. Warburton and W. M'lver each scored 46 and were top scorers, with W.Jackson next 45, E. Ballinger, A. O'Donnell, and A. Ballinger ii each. 'TKe standard for the day's Bhooting is 93, but the aggregates off the gun fell far short of this. W. M'lver heads the list with 90, followed by T. Warburton 89, E. Ballinger 88, J. Hunter and A. O'Donnell 87 .each. The spoon winners for the day were W. Jackson and T. Warburton for A grade, C. Lusty and G. Old for B grade, and F. Bartosh in C grade. Next Saturday. a competition: counting for the championships and second short range series, will be fired over the 500 and 600 yard rangea.'
