OPERATIC SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING

The. annual meeting of the Wellington Operatic Society (Incorporated) was held last night. Mr. C. A. L. Treadwell presided over an attendance .of about 34 members.

Sympathy was expressed with the relatives of the late patron of the society, the Eight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward.

Commenting on the last performance of the society, Mr. Treadwell said that from tie point of view of artistry and acting it was the best production staged so far.

It was moved and seconded that the secretaiy, Mr. Jameson, be appointed to see nnd.approve of the Auckland society's production "Tutankhamen" being produced in Wellington. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr., H. F. Wood; vice-presidente, Sir Charles Statham, Colonel J. J. Esson, Dr. Gordon Kemp, Dr. E. H. M. Luke, Messrs. H. A. Hugging, C. E. Webb, Marcus Marks, E. A. Batt, T. B. Gusscott, C. C. Odlin, J. Bishop, D. D. Hyde, Harcus ' Plimmer, and E. J. Hill; committee, Mesdames D. Brown, A. Woodward, Misses G. Stark, C. Griffin, Messrs. G. D. Alexander, J. Cooke, V. Wilton, H. Liardet, and A. J Mazengarb; musical director, Mr. J. F. Woodward; deputy musical director,. Mr. H. Brusey; pianist, Miss Mary Lennie; auditor, Mr. G. D. James; trustees, Messrs. H. A. Huggins, J. L. M'Alister, and W. M'Keon'; treasurer, Mr. P. Roberts; secretary, Mr.. W. A. Jameson. ■
