SARGON'S GOOD WEST
(From "Vedette.")
SYDNEY, 17th September. Sargon won his race well at Tattersail's Mooting on Saturday at doublefiguro odds. 110 was handled in particularly good style ]jy K. Yoilre, although (ho Sydney Press ovoiJooked il. Saigon, who may now bo J. T. Jamicson's Derby candidate, for King March is amiss and is to be sent home, carried 7.9 in a mile welter (7.7 minimum), with 22 runners. H© did not get too good a run early, but was handy at the turn. Striding to the front a furlong from home, the brother to Catkin won like a useful horse, if • not actually a Derby candidate. First -Sight, as in his other' races, began slowly, but finished on in good style under his 10.3 (top weight). First Sight does not appear to be able to begin well enough to mn,aa Epsom ' Handicap.
. Tregilla, a three-year-old Treclar* colt, registered a remarkable performance in the ten-furlong novice handicap. With 24 runners he stood flatfooted at the barrier. He gave the I leaders easily 100 yards start, and then | finished a close fourth. He is in the I Derby, and has been backed, for the Melbourne Cup, in which he has 6.13. Adelphi, 8.2, Dunraven, 8.2, .and King Musket, 7.11, were all runnels in. this novice handicap, 'but failed. Adelphi and King Musket showed some pace, but Dunraven had ©very chance in "the straight and could not come on. Dunraven will never be within many degrees of Limerick.
• Cimabuo apparently has quite' recovered from his bleeding trouble; and is working well again, but Concentrato was a triflo soro after his race ■ on Saturday.
Although A. D. Webster has a big team at Moorefield, only three have escaped minor troubles. First Acre looks'like being tho one for the 4i"on rations from now on.
White Fang camo off the steamer considerably the -worse for his trip, but he has picked up well under J. M. Cameron's care. Goshawk has not recovered from the buffeting about .he has had in his races. Ho ram moderately on Saturday. Hunting Cry looked abovo himself, and Trill need, some ingInevitable is another of tho £few Zealand horses -who is the Tvorse" ; for "wear.- lie has been lamo behind,, Bed Royal, however, is doing all that could be'asked of him on the track. ' ,Waterlino has arrived at Kaiidwick. Ho. has not developed to any great degree and'is no moro imposing in appearance than when ]io left New Zealand. He looks bright and well, however, and worked along in pleasing fashion this movning. ,T, T. Jamicson lias two smart two-y-ear-olds in Tea Chat (Tea Tray— Philomela) and Ammon Ea (Limond — Hyades). On Saturday morning they ran thre> furlongs in 364 sec, and nothing has done better. < , G. Price has a fine two-year-old brother to Vertigern named Banchero vgtv forward in condition. lie is a good bold galloper, and looks sure to win good races.
