British Official Wireless.
(Received 22nd September, 11 £m,% EUGBY, 21st September.
The Cunard Company has Issued a! I statement, declaring that it has n& knowledge of any insurance difficulties having arisen in regard to the projected giant liner to be constructed far them by Messrs. John Brown and Company, of Clydebank. Cunard's say] that they have not yet begun to place any insurance on this new ship, that the terms of the contract have still to be settled with the builders, and that dry-docking arrangements at Southampton are still under amicable dis« cussion.
It is understood that the new linear^ which -will exceed in speed 2nd. size; any other afloat, will probably reqnir* a special dry-dock to be constructed ct adapted for her. This construction o*j extension of the existing dock could, of course, be undertaken whilo she is building. Insurance on such a huge vessel would naturally involve a great sunty but a few weeks ago the announce-! ment was made that the Board of Trs&6 would undertake at reasonable rates anjr; proportion of the Insurance of the yes» sel which could not be accommodated1 by the market in the ordinary manner, A formal agreement was, it was added,in tho process of being drafted, ants would bo attached to a Bill to be sub* nutted to Parliament in the £orthcoiit» ing session.
