PETONE CLUB

The Pctone Rifle Club held a practice day at Trentham on Saturday, ranges 300 and 500r yards. Teams were chosen by the deputy-presidents, W. Jackson and W. M'lver. There was a good attendance, and the return to the Sommerville range was a welcome change after the long walk to the short range mounds on tho Seddon range.

The conditions were fair at 300 yards, where a steady left wind required watching; but even under ideal conditions, although the shortest fired over, this distance is never easy, and 45 is considered good. O. Pedersen, who has been shooting very consistently the last three Saturdays, topped the scoring with 47, followed by W. Scambary 46, W. M'lver, W. Jackson, and N. E. Solomon 45 each.

At'soo yards the varying wind was very troublesome, and the changing light also presented difficulties. A. O'Donnell scored 48, followed by A. Ballinger 46, NE. Solomon 46, F. Kershaw and R. H. Nicholl 45 each.

The best aggregate was secured by A. O'Donnell with 92, closely followed by N. E. Solomon and O. Pedersen 91 each, and F. Kershaw and E. Veitch 88 each.

The team competition was interesting, and resulted in a win for W. Jackson's team by a small margin. The shooting next Saturday will be over tho short ranges, and it is hoped to settle down to the club series competitions as soon as the ranges aro decided upon by the W.R.A., which is holding its annual meeting on Tuesday .night.
