CLUB OPENINGS

The Brougham Hill Club;s season was opened on Saturday by Mr. R. A.. Wright, M.P., when there was a large attendance of visitors and friends. Mr. Wright congratulated the club on its success during last season, and said he hoped its success would continue. He was glad to know that Brougham Hill had retained its place as the premier club in Wellington, that so many of its members had gained representative honours, and that in Miss Dulcie Nicholls it had the champion lady tennis player of New Zealand. The president declared the courts open, and then hit a ball over the net, after which afternoon tea was served. Many were present at the opening of St. Peter's Club, the president (the l\ev. Mr. Bullock) performing the ceremony. Mr. Bullock expressed himself as being very pleased that the applications for club membership were in excess of the vacancies. That showed that the club was fulfilling its function successfully. He hoped that it would be possible for members to have .the use of church grounds for some times to come yet. Visitors and members were served with afternoon tea.
