OCEAN YACHT RACE
MELBOURNE TO WELLINGTON (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, 20th Sept. It is quite probable that New Zealand will have an entry in, the Trans-Tasman yacht race, which is set down to start from Melbourne on Boxing Day. Those who have interested themselves iv the contest are busy making arrangements, and it is believed that the vessel to represent New Zealand will be named in about a week's time. Meanwhile Australian yachtsmen are interesting themselves in the race. Advice from- Melbourne states that several meetings have been held there, and officials for the race have been appointed. It has been agreed to call the race the Australia-New Zealand Ocean Race, and if it should be a success it is hoped to make the contest an annual one. Mr. Burnett Gray, a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, has offered a cup. : An announcement of the conditions governing the race is expected within a few days.
