ANNUAL REUNION
PETONE FIRE BRIGADE
The 39th annual reunion of the Petone Fire Brigade was held in the Fire Station on Wednesday and was a most successful function. Superintendent James P. Gaynor presided, and amongst those present were inspector Hugo, Councillors J. W. Longman, V. A. Noble, It. W. Toonmth, Mr. W. F. Sim-man (Vctono Town Clerk), Mr. J. W-. M'Eivuu (chairman of the Wellington Hiirbour Board), Mr. W. G. Wider (Gear Co.), Mr. Evans (W. D. and 11. O. Wills), Mr. B. Lippctt (Petone Working Men's Club), Superintendent Slinu -(Lower Hutt Fire Brigade), and Fireman Quirke (Wellington City Firo Brigade). Apologiew lor nori-altendanco wore received from Mr. Walter Nash, M.P., Mr. 1). M'lycnzie (Mayor of Petono and chairman of the Petone Fire Board), Messrs. L. A. Hutton, U. C. Kdwards, and J. I'lirtou (members of the Petone Fire Hoard), Superintendent Creeke (of the Wellington Fire Brigade), Mr. S. Ek-hle-baiim, and Councillors V. E. Jacobson, J. C. Burn, C. P. Brockelbauk, H. 0. Orsbom, and H. A. Ryder.
The presentation of cups and medals was made by Inspector Hugo as follows:— Two years' gold service bar, Foreman Sehvood; two-year service bar, DeputySuperintendent Whiteher, Foreman Burrows, Firemen Martin, Williams, Davis, Drieberg, May, and O. Siibery; three-year service certificate, Fireman L. Home; Phai'e Cup and trophy. Fireman T. Williams; billiards cup, Fireman-O. Silbery; snooker cup, Deputy-Superintendent Whitcher.
The toast list was as follows:—"Petone Fire Board," proposed by Superintendent Gay nor and replied to by the secretary (Mr. W. F. Sturnian); "Petone Borough. Council," proposed by Mr. J. "W. M'Ewan and replied to by Councillors Toomuth, Longman, and JToble; ' "Ouv Industries," proposed by Mr. Stunnan and replied to by Messrs. Loddor and- Evans; "Petone Fire Brigade," "proposed by Inspector Hugo and replied to by Superintendent Gaynor; "Honorary and • Visiting Firemen," proposed by Fireman L. Martin and replied to by representatives of the Wellington, Lower Hutt, and Eastbourne Fire Brigades; "The Artists," proposed by Superintendent Gaynor and replied to by the artists: ' v
During the evening; enjoyable items were given by Messrs. Lou Price, A. Edwards, N. Edmonds, A. Brockenshire, J. Hsnes, Hull, Patterson, G-. Tynan, J. Chandler, K. Rigby, J. Osborne, Frost, and D. Millward.
