MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police and summons cases were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M.,.in the .Magistrate's Court to-day. Mary Hartley, aged 18, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon in twelve months on a charge of being an idle and disorderly;-. person with insufficient lawful means'of. support. The Magistrate directed that the accused was to go to the Salvation Army Home during that period, and-was not to leave without the probation officer's approval. On a charge of behaving in a disorderly manner in a public place, Edward Thomas Hurst was fined £2. '.:."!. Ernest Ellicock was fined £4 for using an unclean milk receptacle." For selling goods on a Sunday, Arthur Paterson was fined £3. On charges of being found, on. licensed premises after hours, Stanley. "Anthony, White was fined £2, and "A. M'lntyie £1. On a charge of stealing £2, the property of Hugo Nicol, Ernest Albert Galbraitk was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment. Detective^Sergeant Holmes said that the accused had been; out o£ work. He met the complainant in town one day and was invited home to spend the night. In the morning after the complainant had gone to work, the accused went through the pockets of a suit ■and stole the money. On charges of failing to furnish returns c." income, Llewelyn Herbert Warren Jones and Claude Hobart Pulsford were each fined £4. . • A charge against Stuart Devenie, labourer, aged 24, of receiving from Joseph Bernard Lynn, a gold watch valued at £40, knowing it to be stolen property, was dis-. wissml.
