EMPIRE PARLIAMENTS
NEW ZEALAND BRANCH
The annual meeting of the New Zealand branch of the Empiro Parliamentary Association was held on WcdneS' .lay.
Regret was expressed in the annual .eport at the death of the Eight Hon. Sir Joseph Ward (a vice-president), Sir Maui Poniarc, Sir Thomas Mackenzie, the Hon. H. L. Michel, the Right Hon. Sir Robert Stout, and. Sir George Hunter. The executive also recorded with sorrow the severe loss the branch has sustained by the death of Mr. A. F. Lowe, late Clerk of Parliaments, who acted as secretary of the branch since 1923. The fact was mentioned that his duties had been temporarily carried out most efficiently by Mr: CM. Bothamley. It was decided to communicate with the branch of the association at Home suggesting that if a conference of the association was to be held in, England next year May would be tho most suitable month.
Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Presidents (veelected), the Hon. Sir Walter Carncross. (Speaker, Legislative Council) and tho Hon. Sir Charles Statham (Speaker, House of Representatives); vice-presidents, the Right Hon. Sir Francis Bell, the Hon. Sir Hcaton Rhodes, tho Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Mr H. E. Holland, the Hon. Sir Thomas Sidey, and the Hon. G. W. Forbes; hon. treasurer (re-elected), the Hon. A. S Malcolm; hon. auditors (re-elected), the Hon. W. Downie Stewart and the Hon A. J. Murdoch; hon. secretary, Mr. C. M. Bothamley (vice Mr. A. F. Lowe); executive, the Hon. Sir William Hall-Jones, tho Hon. Colonel Smith, the Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, tho Hon. A. F. Hawke, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, the Hon. S. G. Smith, the Hon. Sir James Allen, and Messrs. E. J. Howard, M. ,T. Savage, K. S. Williams, and C. A. Wilkinson.
