NATIONAL DAFFODIL SOCIETY
The National Daffodil Society of New Zealand held its annual meeting on Wednesday. The president of the society, fair K. Heaton Rhodes, occupied the chair, and the following delegates were present: Messrs. A. G. Bull (Chrietchurch), C. H E. Rhodes (Wanganui), H. J. Poole (Lower Hutt), F. R. Pepperell (Elthami R Lewis (Eltham), J. C. Glover (Rongo tea), C. W. Pierson (Te Aroha), D. H. L Corrigan (Tauranga), H. T. Treven:. (Dunedin), Robert Gibson (Manaia), N C. Barstow (Wanganui). C. Goodsoci (Hawera), A. W. Broadway (Otaki), G. S. Nicoll (Karori), A. J. P. Thomson (Lower Hutt), J. G. Weightman (Feilding), J W. Thomson (Lower Hutt), C E Buckingham (Lower Hutt), A. Chrystal (Eltham), Herbert T. Poole. (Lower Hutt). Remits from various districts were re ceived for discussion. The secretary a report and the treasurer's statement showed the society to be in a very hcalthv state. ' • .' Applications were received tor the society's shows to be held in Otaki. va.l merstou North, . Hamilton, Eltham, and Dunedin. After discussion, it was decide< to hold the 1931 North Island Show at Eltham and the South Island Show at Dunedin. The competition for the British Cup will be held in Dunedin '•' 1931. A number of new members were elected The election of the principal officers re suited as follows: Patrou, Robert Gibson Esq.; president, Sir E. Heaton Rhodes, X.C.V.0.. K.8.E.; hon. solicitor, A Chrystal Esq.; hon mycplogist, Dr. M Curtis; bon. treasurer, A. J. NicholK Esq.; hon. secretary, Herbert .1. roolf 'Votes o! thanks were accorded to the outgoing officers, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
Provision is made in the Washing Uj> Bill, introduced in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, and read a first time, for adding to the Hutt Park Re creation Reserve certain sections which form part of the land set apart by the Crown under the provisions of the Hutt Valley Lands Settlement Act, 1925, and which wero withheld from disposal witi a view to improving the access from the adjacent residential area to the Kecreatio.n Deserve.
