HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD
A meeting of the Hutt Valley Electi'ie Power Board was held yesterday. There wero present: Messrs. X Windley (chairman), J. W. M'Ewan, W. : H. P. Barber, A. Walker, L. Stewart, A. W. Press, A. Anderson, A. J. liobbs, and A. J. M'Curdy. Official notification was received of the re-election of Mr. H. W. Lawrence as tlio Johnsonvillo representative on the board.
A statement of power sales for the | periods Ist April to 31st August, 1929 I and 1930, showed that revenue from this sourco had increased from- £36,717 9s ii for the 1929 period to £42,800 12s 4d for this year—an increase of 16.6 per cent. ■•'■,'.' The following load statistics for the month ended 31st August, with Qgures to date in parentheses, were given by the engineer-general manager (Mr, B. F Hollands): New consumers, 65 (9974); new ranges, 15 (1242); new water heaters, 17 (1055); units purchased, 3,075,690. The masimum demand was 4532 kw., ,at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 19th August. The new connected load was 348.5 kilowatts, making a total of 34,167. kilowatts, made up of light 42.5 (4412.5), heat 299 (23,144), and power 7 (6611). During August the board's motor-vehicles ran 13,101 miles, and consumed 727 gallons of benzine. ■ . Mr. Hollands reported that during the period 14th August to 3rd September re-inspection work had progressed in Eastbourne, Day's Bay, Mahina Bay, and York Bay, , these districts being nearly completed Installations in Lowry Bay were now being inspeetcd. The number of installations dealt with iv the period was 50, 40 of which had defects to be remedied. The total number of installations re-inspected to date was 360.
