ASSOCIATION
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL
A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association was held last evening. Mr. F. Campbell presided, and there were present Messrs. W. G. Brioe, L\ Saunders, H. L. Godber, H. Renai, j. A. Milburn, B. L. Salmon, A. J. Hyder, and A. Williams (secretary).
Permission was granted, for Otago to play Southland at Dunedin on 27th September. The Southland Association wrote thanking the council for cancelling its affiliation fees for past seasons. The affiliation fees for the present season were enclosed. The South Auckland Football Association was granted permission to play a match against the Hamilton representatives on 4th October. The season in the South Auckland district is to be extended until 11th October.
A letter was received from the South African Football Association agreeing with the New Zealand Association's view that the Football Association, England, should send a team to the Dominions each year in turn.
A letter is to be sent to the Wellington Football Association expressing disappointment at the association's refusal to accede to the New Zealand council's request that it should not charge for the use of the Basin Reserve for the Chatham Cup final. The expenses of the match, it was stated, were borne by the Western Club, Christchurch, as the gate receipts did not cover them. Mention was made of the fact that both Auckland and Christchurch desired the Chatham Cup match to be played elsewhere than in Wellington. Letters are to be sent from the council to the Petone and Western teams congratulating them, on their fine display in the game.
