FOURTH GRADE CHAMPIONS

A protest against-the Pelone A fourth grade Rugby team's win over Technical College Old Boys on the ground that two players wero ineligible -was dealt with at last night's lrfceting pi" the Wellington Rugby Union's Management Committee, when a deputation was received from tho Petone Club. After 'consideration of the matter in committee, it was decided that the match, which was played last Saturday week at Athletic Park, be declared vend, and that Technical College Old Boys and I'cto'ue A bo bracketed as winners of. this -fourth grade championship, subject .to production of proof of ago of the players. , . Permission was granted for the playing of a number of house and other matches. With regard to a. request by the Wairarapa Rugby Union for the Wellington fourth grade representatives to play a match with the Wairarapa thirds jn the Wairarapa, it was decided to reply that at this stage of the season the trip could not be arranged. It was also pointed out that the fourth grade players had already had their representative match this season. A match between iho Masterton fourths and the Athletic fifths was approved and set clown as a curtain-raiser to the Wai-rarapa-Wellington match at Athletic Park next Saturday^ Approval was also given to a match between teams representing the R.N. Volunteer Reserve and H.M.S. Dunedin, to be played as a curtain-raiser to the Tara-naki-Wellington match at Athletic Park on Saturday week. An application for the use of Athletic Park for a band contest on the 28th February, 1931, was granted, subject to certain conditions.

Advice was received from the City Council that owing to lack of funds it was unable to proceed with the erection of ambulance sheds on the various reserves on which football is played.

Highly complimentary reference to the conduct of the Wellington Rugby touring team during its stay in "Dunedin was made in a letter from the proprietor of the hotel at which the team was acoomodated.
