AGED CHRISTCHURCH WIDOW

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd June. Christina Smith, aged 84, a' widow, inmate of the Christchurch Jubilee Home, was drowned in the Heathcote River this morning. She disappeared very early, clad in a nightgown only, and her body was found■ floating a few. hundred yards from the home. At an inquest nurses on the staff of the home stated that Mrs. Smith seemed normal this morning. She had reached a condition of genile decay and had had to bo watched carefully. The Magistrate said it appealed that Mrs. Smith did not know what she was doing. He returned a verdict o£ fouud drowned, stating that all possible care had been taken by the staff of the institution and no Name was attachable to them.
