FURTHER FLOODS FEARED
SYDNEY, 22nd Juno. '. Tho flood waters at Maitland arc receding, though there.are still miles of country ..inundated.. 1 Prom Maitland town a brown sea extends for fifteen miles in one direction and spreads over a wide area laterally... Torrential rain- this morning revives fears of further floods. A break in the weather during tho last two days had brought about a. rapid, fall in the.' inundations, and people had • commenced to yreturn to their sodden homes to make a fresh start. Some probably will now be> driven out again. As - most churches in ' Maitland are flooded, a combined service is being held this evening in tho Anglican. Church., "" A woman ' refugee sheltering in ' tho Town Hall • gave birth to a baby on Saturday afternoon. Thieves have visiting, flooded houses temporarily abandoned, removing articles of value in boats. The floods have caused a restriction in Sydney's milk supply, which is boing .rationed in some suburbs. A special train from, the South Coast will relieve the situation by tapping, new sources.
