United Press Association —By Electric TeleErapb—Copyright. (Received 2nd May, 1 p.m.) OTTAWA, Ist May. The Budget announces that the New Zealand Trade Treaty will be abrogated on 12th October. A duty of four cents a lb. on New Zealand butter will become effective on that date. The present duty is one cent. After 12th October, Canada will extend full British preference to New Zealand. The Finance Minister (Mr. Dunning)' said that the Government of .Canada has proposed to the Government of New Zealand that a direct trade agreement bo negotiated to supersede the present arrangement. ■ "We hope'thct we shall be able to arrange for a '■meeting of representatives'ot! both countries in the near future in order to endeavour to reat-li a mutually satisfactory arrangement," said Mr. Dunning, who also announced that he expected the completion of ;i Newfoundland trade agreenK'/it shortly. .
