FAST FLYING
CAPTAIN BUCKLEY'S TRIP
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHKISTCHUBCH, Ist May. Having covered 555 miles in 4 hours 55 minutes actual flying time1, FlightLieutenant W. M. Buckley arrived from Auckland to-day in the Fairey 111 ¥ monoplane. The machine has been designed for aerial survey work and will be used by Flight-Lieutenant Buckley for surveying the Maniototo County. From the Hobsonvillc air base to Christchurch only one stop was .made, at Blenheim, where Plight-Lieutenant Buckley landed to inspect the auxiliary petrol tanks, which he suspected were not functioning properly. He found little amiss and resumed his flight and arrived at AV'igram Aerodrome at i.iio p.ni. When the weather clears FlightLieutenant Buckley will' leave for Maniototo Plains,. Central Otago, to make an aenal photographic survey. He will make his base at Ranfurly and will spend four days on the work. Special accommodation has been made in the aeroplane for a photographer and his apparatus, and. the wide flying range of the machine will facilitate a survey over a wide territory.
