BRITISH RUGBY TOUR
THE AUCKLAND MATCHES
The chairman (Mr. S. S. Dean) reported at the Management Committee meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union last evening that he had visited Auckland last week-end and had gone into the matter of the ground—Eden Park or Western Springs Stadium—for the' matches in Auckland against the British team. "The question was gone into thoroughly," said Mr. Dean, "and I eventually arrived at a decision with the Eden-Park Board ' of Control, and the matches in Auckland will be played at Eden Park." The Park Board of Control had agreed to give the Auckland Union concessions with regard to percentages, and altogether he thought the arrangements were satisfactory. : " ■.. • ; It was announced that Mr.T.Davies, of Auckland) had been appointed "baggage" man to the British teani on its tour of the Dominion. ; : "I am directedby my committee'ta enter a protest against the suggested cancellation of the ■ British matck against the combined teams of the Nalson, Golden Bay-Motueka, and Mali* borough Unions," wrote the secretary of the Marlborough Union. "Tilt Marlborough Union's committee considers that an 'appeal should be made to the British team to carry out the itinerary as submitted to them." A similar protest was made by ; the Nelson' Union. The Ashburton Union asked if it would be possible for the. New Zealand team selected to meet the British team to play a match at Ashburton between the dates set down for the first and second Tests. It was decided to defer consideration of the application.
