This decline in export values of New Zealand: hemp during the past few months has mow made it unprofitable for flaxmillei rs in' the Wellington district to continuij - working, and many of them who have been "marking time" iv hope of a betta: market have now'definitely decided to es< ise down for the winter months. The moderate quantity of fibre held in stock will be scutched .during the next few, weeks , but so far as the Manawatu area is concerned production during the winter moiitVs will be greatly below the usual quant ities, possibly 50 per cent, less than last 3 'ear's output.
