THE APRIL FIGURES
TALL IN PETROL AND TIRE TAXES ,
A decrease of £46,000 is shown by the Wellington Customs revenue figures for Jasfc month as compared with those for April, 1929. This year the net Customs revenue collected in April totalled -£205,----612, as against £254,713 for April of last j year. But. for, the first four months of this year, the Customs revenue was £980,611, as against £956,530 for the first four months of 1929, showing an increase of. £24,072. Total for i months 980,611 956,539 The duty collected on motor spirit last month was £35,900, as against £37,123 for April, 1929—a drop of £1223. J.ne figures for the four months period are £134,871 and £138,018, a decrease of £3177. Collections of tire tas last month totalled £3138, as compared with £6120 for April, 1929, showing a fall of £™™- For the four months \ d™P°* *? recorded, the figures being £10,943 and £26,144 respectively. .-, Beer excise collections for April were £5192, as against £4648 for April, 1929.
