EDUCATION INQUIRY
THE FINAL REPORT
It is not expected thiit there will be much further delay in connection with the completion of the work of the Education Committee of the House of Bepresentatives, which has taken voluminous evidence throughout the Dominion in regard to the proposed overhaul of the education system. In reply to a question by a "Post" reporter to-day, the Minister of Education (the Hon. H. Atmore) pointed out that meetings of the committee had been held up pending the transcription of the shorthand notes of the examination of witnesses. That work had now been completed, and Mr. Atmore said he hoped to call the committee together shortly to consider the final report. Evidence had yet to be heard from the New Zealand Institute, which wished to make certain representations, and after that had been done the preparation of the report could be proceeded with. Mr. Atmore said he anticipated that the greater part of the recommendations of the committee could be given effect to by departmental regulation, without the necessity for drafting legislation.
