EXCHANGE SHIP SELECTED

(Received 30th April, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 29th April. The Australian Press Association understands that the Admiralty has selected the cruiser Shropshire to go to Australia in the autumn as an exchange with the Canberra, which is going to the Mediterranean for training. ■~ |

The Shropshire, like the Canberra, is a 10,000-ton cruiser. She carries eight Bin and 24 smaller guns. The Shropshire was completed last year, the estimated cost being £1,941,950. Her speed is 32J knots. The Canberra is a sister ship, and was completed in 1928.
