PARENTS' ASSOCIATION

| The fourth 'annual meeting 01 the Marsden School Parents' -Association was held at the school house, Karori, on Monday night. Mr.' A. P. Harper presided, and, there were present about 40 members. , "' ■The following were ekctcd oflicers for the ensuing- year:—President, Mr. ,M. Burnett; vice-presidents, Mrs. J. G. Coates,. Mrs. '■, Krtox Gilmer, Mr. C. G. White, Dr.' E. Marsden; committee, Mesdames D. Allan, Briggs, STeave, Pasley, Graham Robertson, C. G. White, I. V. Wilson, Messrs., A. V. Allen, F. Gill, A. P. Harper, H. P. Hopkins:, Kemiish, Townley, Dr. Graham Robcr'.son; hoa. secretary,, Mrs. W. Flanagan: hon. treasurer, Mr.' V. K. Gunn; hon. auditor. Mr. W. Gray Young. Miss Mayhew, acting-head mistress, gave the meeting a short message of thanks and appreciation from Miss Baber, who had left ,that evening for Auckland to catch her steamer for England. It was resolved that a telegram be sent Miss Baber conveying the meeting's best wishes for a pleasant voyage, good holiday, and I safe return. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Harper, the retiring president, for his services to the association. The audited statement of receipts and expenditure for the year, showing a ! credit balance in the general fund of i £18 10s 2d, was adopted. The annual rei port,- which ,waS also adopted, stated that the assembly hall was now Hearing complbtion, and that the funds subscribed and collected towards this object since the inception of the association, and amounting to the sum of £933, had been paid over to the board. Acknowledgment was made of the generous assistance given to this fund by members and friends of the-'association, a. After the formal meeting a most interesting address was given by Dr. E. Marsden on education, for girls and their future, which was* followed by a discussion on various points touched upon in the address. Dr., Marsden was heartily thanked for his address.
