RED CROSS GARDEN FETE

To-day's. Garden .Fete in' the .Hospital grounds in aid of -funds for Radip equipment for. the: Ejyarf;. 173,3 extremely well plannedVby the, protttoiers, tho Wellington Red Cross. Spciety. There were- cake, sweets, produce :flo^ers, miscellaneous, books, fancy, • soft drinks, ices; and afternoon tea-stalls. Apart from what the convenors had gathered, -there ivas va',;gener6u.s:-'-re-sponse from hpuses>..- which forwarded. a. varied; selection.-of; goods. The Rotary; Club, at its = last ■ function, also responded cheerfully fo a- special appeal made. A large number' of • helpers gave.-assistance at the -.^ various stalls. Red Cross nurses, in- -uniform, under Sister J; E. Lewis, werQ.a'riotable feature of the fete, presiding oyqr the afternoon tea. ,Their, ; reputatioa for home-made delicacies attracted a large number to the basemerii'■ of ; the new administrative- block, ■ \v.here tea> was served, arrangements having^ been, made to serve one thousand . guest^. The management of the Winter Shoyr Association kindly loaned, chairs,, and tables. Members of- the Junior Red; Cross made most efficient messengers. Side shows were numerous and enter-! taining, suggesting' the. old' English! goose fair with the variety of fun! offering. The local branch, of Toe H supervised this branch ■of the fete'a attraction's, and: provided • all-kinds -ojs merry-making and inoiiey-getting 'stallv
