ASHBUBTON, This Day. At the Magistrate's Court Philip M'Laughlin, of Hinds, was charged witlr having made a false document by signing the name of George Tait to a consent of marriage of a minor; George Tait, of Ashburton, was charged with abetting M'Laughlin in the commission of the offence.
Evidence was given to the effect that in November, 1926, Tait, not wishing to visit Asliburton, asked M'Laughlin to sign a document relating to the marriage of tho former's son. Both pleaded guilty and werecommitted for sentence. They were te-
