HARMONIC SOCIETY
"MOST SUCCESSFUL SEASON"
"One o£ the most optimistic reports and balance-sheets that we have ever had the honour of submitting to an annual mectilig," was the description given by Mr. 11. A. Wright, M.1., president of the Wellington Harmonic Society, when moving the adoption of the report and bal-ance-sheet at the society's annual meeting last night. The year had been an exceptionally good one, continued Mr. Wright. There was not one single note of discord; everywhere progress had been made. To those who had accomplished the increase in membership the thanks and congratulations of the society were due. Financial difficulties, too, had been completely solved. He was very pleased at the result of the year's work. . ' The following officers were elected:— Patrons, the (Jovernor-General-Elcct and Lady Bledisloe; president, 'Mr. R. A. It. was agreed that the , society should give a performance of the ''Messiah" on Good Friday, in aid of some worthy object. . The meeting decided, amid acclamation, to. send a letter to Mr. Robert Parker, a vice-president of the society, congratulating him on his recent , honour of C.M.G. - ■ Appreciative references were made, amongst others, to the splendid work of two officials who were retiring for a time at least—Mr. P. Cutforth (late hon. deputy conductor), and Mrs. G. Stark, a committee member; also to that of the president, secretary, and conductor. .A digest of the annual report appeared in <rThe Post" last Saturday.
